  1. Install smoke detectors on the ceiling at the base of each stairwell.

  2. Make sure that smoke detectors have batteries and are working properly.

  3. Contact phone company to disconnect service

  4. Contact Gas company to change into new owners name

  5. Contact electric company to change into new owners name

  6. Contact cable company to disconnect service

  7. Call final water meter reading into city/town hall four (4) business days prior to closing

  8. Make a list of household & outdoor items you no longer need. Ask new owners if there is anything on the list that they would like you to leave.

  9. Call moving company to lock in your date.

  10. Buyers will want to do a Fianl Walkthrough 24 hours before the closing. At that time, it will be expected that the house is in "broom clean" condition.

  11. Make out change of address form with the post office.

  12. Bring all copies of the house keys to the closing.

  13. Leave garage door openers on kitchen counters.

  14. If the house has oil heat, estimate how much oil is left so you can be reimbursed by the buyers at the closing.
